2-4 Weeks Before Your Photo Shoot
BOOK YOUR MAINTENANCE APPOINTMENTS
If you want to schedule any hair appointments, manicure, pedicures, fitness classes etc do that ahead of time so you can ensure you have the space before they book out.
STRETCH + MOVEMENT
I always do my best to prepare my clients for how this type of shoot incorporates a lot of flexibility and mobility. While we always make modifications for limitations and any injuries, it’s best to start preparing your body as soon as you can. My recommendation is always YOGA because this will help you both breath and stretch many of the same places we will guide you through.
DRINK LOTS OF WATER
Water is the best thing for your skin and your mind. Aim to drink at least ½ your body weight in oz of water. This will also help with bloating. Drink, drink, drink.
EAT WELL
I don’t recommend any specific diet, however, I do know things like processed foods can add additional fluid to the body. So my recommendation is to eat well rounded meals that come from the earth or an animal. Things as much as you can not in a box. Lots of protein, veggies and fruit. Skip the fast food joints and be mindful. Your session is going to require you to be at your most optimal and nutrients are the foundation of that.
MAKE A PLAYLIST
Music will really help you get into the vibe! We use Spotify in our studio and we have a bluetooth speaker so feel free to create a playlist for hair and makeup as well as your photo shoot there and we can play it right from your phone!
PREP FOR YOUR STYLING SESSION
If you have booked a velvet or icon experience, you will be invited via private link to come to the studio before your session. Feel free to pack some things from home that you would like to bring and show up ready for the day. Trying on wardrobe with your hair and some makeup on will help you get a better idea of the final look, versus showing up unkept.
EXFOLIATE AND MOISTURIZE
A lot of your skin will be showing, start using an exfoliation mitt to remove your dead skin weekly and apply deep moisturizer. I personal like to add some baby oil and or aquaphor to my daily lotion to give extra moisture to my skin. Don’t forget to exfoliate your lips and moisturize them too!
PRIORITIZE GOOD SLEEP
Having a good sleep schedule is great for the skin, your mind and helping your body recover from the additional movement you may be doing. Ensure you are getting up to 8 hours per night if possible.
