I have some unhinged marriage advice: Put “doing shit just because we want to” in the fucking budget. I’m not talking about skipping your mortgage to book a trip to Greece. I’m talking about couples who can afford to have fun but have decided anything unnecessary is irresponsible. I know that mindset. In 2016, my photography business made about $15K a year when I wanted to invest in a mentorship. My husband at the time didn’t support it and the mom guilt hit HARD. Then my mentor reminded me of Carl Jung’s words: “The greatest burden a child must bear is the unlived life of its parents.” So I picked up extra shifts, made the payments and flew to LA. Was it necessary? No. That’s the fucking point. It changed my life. And I watch couples do this constantly: the mortgage, kids, groceries, cars, braces and retirement all get funded but suggest a trip, an experience, or something just because it sounds fucking FUN and suddenly we need a congressional hearing. “Do we really need it?” No. When did NEED become the requirement for enjoying your life? Your relationship doesn’t need to be struggling before you invest in it. Sometimes the ROI is simply: We laughed. We couldn’t keep our hands off each other. We made a fucking memory. We felt alive together. You can make more money. You cannot guarantee yourselves more time. So be responsible, but put “doing shit just because we want to” in the fucking budget too. I’m not a yoga instructor so let’s clock that first. I am a boudoir photographer and I do lots of yoga to ensure my joints and muscles and ligaments are ready to show you how to move your body. Boudoir is BODYWORK it’s absolutely essential that you move and stretch and get familiar with your body before you come in. It’s how you know where your limits are and prevents injury. Yoga, Pilates, Barre and Dance are great options. Save this post as your reminder!

I know it’s tempting to skip eating before your session because you don’t want to feel heavy and bloated. But I really need you to nourish yourself please. You’re going to be getting a workout of your mind, body and soul over here. So trust. You need sustenance. High protein, good fats etc. I love a good protein shake with some extra yogurt myself. Drop your favorite nutrient dense meals/snacks below so we can have a hub started!!

One thing about me is im never gonna waste time. I’ve been dying to play with my lights so this was actually such a sweet treat and a great way for me to get grounded in my body too and to enjoy one of the most Wisconsin things… a crispy spotted cow. If you want to save money… The biggest question I want you to ask yourself before you reach out to the photographer and ask how much... All cost aside, would I still choose this person to photograph me at my most vulnerable? Do I fully believe they will give me what I need? I looked at their work, and I see myself in it? If the answer is a hell yes. Then you’ve found your potential artist. If the answer is no… I suggest you wait to spend your money. Because the cost of settling is always more expensive.

We like to call them movie trailers but same difference. 🤣 And no you don’t have to be a dancer the only requirement is not to look at me the same way my teenager does when I tell her to take out the trash. The movements can be subtle to grandiose and everything in between. It’s not you it’s your light. Some areas need more light some areas need less. And it’s my best tool when I talk to clients about what parts of their body they are still learning to love and what parts they would love to highlight. You don’t have to love everything before you come to the studio. You just have to trust that I’ve been doing this for 15 years and I have all the training I need deliver the results you’re looking for.
