How We Work With Every Body

Body Confidence & Styling Tips

Almost everyone walks into their session with at least one thing about their body they feel unsure about. The good news is that lighting, wardrobe, and posing are incredibly powerful tools, and we use all three intentionally to highlight what you love and soften anything you feel unsure about. Below are some of the most common things clients bring up before their session and how we work with them.

Curvy Bodies

Bring on the form-fitting pieces. We love bodysuits, fitted dresses, lingerie, and sometimes nothing at all. We often see curvy clients trying to cover up more, but that usually has the opposite effect. Allowing us to see your figure and pose it intentionally is the best way to celebrate your shape and create beautiful images.

Slim or Straight Body Shapes

Curves are often created through posing and lighting, not just body shape. Form-fitting wardrobe or minimal styling works beautifully because it allows us to sculpt the body naturally with light and positioning.

Smaller Chest

Underwires and bralettes can be great options, but so is no bra at all, which we personally love for smaller chests. Small breasts photograph beautifully, so please don’t feel like you need to create extra volume unless it’s something you personally want.

Post-Pregnancy Changes

If your breasts sit a little lower than they once did, supportive bras or structured bodysuits can help provide lift. That said, posing plays a huge role here, and we’re very skilled at positioning the body in flattering ways. Bodies change over time, and we welcome them exactly as they are.

Menstrual Cycle or Bloating

Sometimes your cycle sneaks up on you and happens to fall on session day. If that happens, we recommend using a flex disc, menstrual cup, or tampon, as we can easily work around them. We also keep supplies at the studio just in case, including liners, ibuprofen, and Midol.

Scars & Stretch Marks

Our belief is that scars tell a story. Some clients prefer to keep them as part of their images, while others prefer that they be softened or removed during retouching. Because this is deeply personal, we will never remove scars or stretch marks unless you specifically request it. If you do request that retouching, we are happy to do it at no additional charge.

Wanting More Curve in the Booty

Thongs tend to make a butt look fuller than full-coverage bottoms or g-strings. Try different styles in the mirror to see what you like best. And don’t worry, we are pros at creating curves through posing, even when they aren’t naturally there. We can create a killer booty shot with any level of curve (or lack thereof).

Shorter Legs

Heels with a thin heel tend to elongate the legs more than chunky styles. Try to avoid:

• Thick ankle straps
• Square toes

Nude shoes can also visually lengthen the legs.

Dad Bods

Last time we checked, dad bods are very much in style. We may have you do a few push-ups during the session to help pump up the arms, but wardrobe, lighting, and posing also help balance the frame and guide attention naturally.

Thinning Hair or Bald Spots

We have makeup products that can help fill in thinning hair for both men and women. For longer styles, we’re also happy to help install clip-in extensions if you bring them. Human hair extensions tend to photograph best, and installing them ahead of time helps keep the hair and makeup timeline smooth.

Smiling or Teeth Concerns

You don’t have to smile in every photo. Some images will feel soft, serious, playful, or intimate. We guide expressions throughout the session so nothing feels forced. If there’s something about your smile that concerns you, we can also make subtle adjustments during editing if needed.

Talk to Us

If there is something about your body or appearance that you are still learning to love, please let us know. We would much rather talk through it before your session so we can plan wardrobe, posing, and lighting intentionally. Our goal at the end of the day is simple: We want you to have a really hard time narrowing down your images because you love them all.
