Meet Jakie
Hi, I’m Jakie.
I’ve been part of the studio for the past five years, and what started as a job has truly grown into one of the most rewarding careers I could have ever imagined. One of my favorite parts of this work is the freedom it gives me to be creative while also building genuine one-on-one connections with the people who walk through our doors. Before joining the studio, I studied photography and art restoration in college, and art has always been a huge part of my life. I’m a painter and illustrator at heart, and I even had the chance to help co-publish our very first client coloring book, Coloring Confidence, which features line art inspired by the beautiful bodies we photograph in the studio. If Mary is the one guiding you through your session behind the camera, I’m the one helping shape everything that surrounds that experience.
You’ll meet with me during your styling session, where we’ll start planning all the details for your shoot. We’ll talk about your hair and makeup vision, your music and drink preferences, the parts of your body you absolutely love, and the parts you might still be learning to love. My goal is to help you feel comfortable, excited, and completely prepared before you ever step in front of the camera. As the studio’s hair and makeup artist, I get the honor of treating your face and hair like a real-life canvas. Because I also handle all of the image editing and retouching, I’m deeply familiar with how light, skin, texture, and detail translate from real life to the final artwork you receive. I’m also the one who creates the cinematic reveal film you’ll watch when it’s time to see your images for the first time, a little moment designed to help you relive the entire experience. When it comes time to choose your images, I’ll sit with you and help guide you through selecting your favorites. From there, we’ll design your albums and wall art together, customizing everything so it fits your vision and your space perfectly. I’ll make sure every order meets our studio standards and that your finished artwork is ready for pickup or delivery.
Outside of the studio, I’m what Mary likes to call a sweet-treat queen. I love spending time in nature collecting little rocks and treasures, painting whenever I can, and spending time with my partner and family. I also host paint nights here at the studio, which have become some of our favorite community events. I’m also part of the LGBTQ community, and it means a lot to me to be able to create a safe and welcoming space for clients who want to explore and celebrate themselves in that way. One important thing you should probably know about me… I’m also a bit of a clutz. If you see me trip over absolutely nothing or somehow stumble over air, just know that’s completely normal and part of my daily routine. More than anything, I love being part of the moment when someone sees themselves differently for the first time. Getting to witness that transformation, and helping create the artwork that holds it, is something I never take for granted.
I can’t wait to meet you.
